Beth Ditto is more confident because of her overweight.

The punk rock singer has become world famous not only because of her extravagant voice, but also because of the self-confidence with which she appears on the stage despite her idiosyncratic appearance. The 'Gossip' front woman made it clear two years ago that you don't always have to be slim to be successful when she teamed up with her designer friend Jean Paul Gaultier to launch a limited plus size collection and to walk on the catwalk as a model.

In conversation with the magazine 'Neon', the 36-year-old now reveals that her overweight has helped her to acquire a strong self-confidence: "Those who are afraid of fat people are afraid of getting fat themselves. Being fat, made me strong: I had to get creative, learn to sew, sing, trust my mind, and value something other than conventional looks. " That is why the singer also finds Miss Piggy particularly good: "Miss Piggy speaks French, she knows karate, she is very elegant, and she is a pig without being ashamed of it. What more could you want?" And although she loves working in the fashion world, it doesn't mean that Ditto is completely abandoning her music career. The curvy star only released her first solo album called 'Fake Sugar' in June.
