As part of its Earth Day initiatives , Apple recently proposed a free photo workshop open to everyone in its Apple Store at the Carrousel du Louvre . On the program: a photo tour in the Jardin des Tuileries where you could ask all your questions to learn to make nice shots . Other workshops of this kind will soon be organized in other shops of the firm, all over France (just look for the site of Apple to know where it is going). In the meantime, we were there and we retained for you, 5 tricks to make beautiful pictures .

Tip # 1: Take the picture at the right time and in the right place

This advice may seem stupid but it is far from being so. Many of us take pictures in a hurry without even realizing it. To make pretty pictures with his iPhone, the best moments of the day are sunrise and sunset. The clouds then standardize the light and this particular luminosity is a strong ally to make beautiful photos . In the same way, we do not hesitate to wait for the right moment to make its cliché: that people shift for example to face its target is the best way to have beautiful perspectives ...

Tip # 2: Play with the different modes of the iPhone

The iPhone is full of features that can help us make beautiful photos.
- Panorama mode is convenient for making very wide pictures. It is used rather to make photos of landscapes and far because it tends to distort the targets taken closely.
- By activating the "live photo" mode (available on the iPhone 6S and SE), you can make moving pictures. With this parameter, you actually record 3 seconds of video before and after the picture. The whole is then combined in a single photo, which can be seen animate by leaving your finger on the screen.
- The HDR mode (available since the release of the iPhone 4S) makes it possible to make a series of 3 photos in burst , with a different level of exposure for each one. They are then merged into a single one where the strong contrasts are attenuated.

Tip 3: Focus

Essential to take a beautiful photo with the iPhone (but not only for that matter)! When you look at the picture you are going to make through the screen, just touch it to see a yellow square : this means that the camera is focusing . One does not hesitate to try to make it on different places of the screen to play with the shadows and to find the ideal exposure . You can also choose to focus manually by holding your finger on the screen for a few seconds until the word "unlock" appears. Then you set the exposure with the little sun wheel.

Tip 4: Use the right accessories

- The telephoto , to screw on his iPhone , walks like a zoom . As it overwhelms the distances, it is convenient to take pictures from afar: a statue that would be on the other side of a lawn on which it is forbidden to walk for example ... Rather than zooming on the screen, it is better to use an optical element of the kind, the picture will be much better quality.
- The macro lens is used to take pictures very closely (only 1 or 2 cm from the object you want to photograph). It is used mainly to go for texture , to make a close-up on a flower or another element of nature for example.
- The wide angle lens allows to open the field of view of the photo: practice to take a landscape. But be careful, it can distort ...
- The fisheye has a very short focal length and therefore a very large field of view . Distortion is applied to straight lines that do not pass through the center, which causes it to completely distort the photos. It is especially suitable for creative photography .

Tip 5: Modify the photo to improve its rendering

To make a basic photo, a beautiful photo, post-production modification is an indispensable step. And no need to go to Photoshop to filter his picture, you can directly on his iPhone , greatly improve the rendering. All you have to do is click on "edit" at the top right of the photo you want to retouch. Then, it's up to us to crop it , rotate it to tilt it or to put it right again, add a filter , play on the clarity and contrasts and swell or lower the brightness , make the colors more vivid ... There are so many possibilities, that it is better, with a photo test, take the tool in hand while getting lost in the flow of changes .
