• It was in Londerzeel , a small Belgian municipality, that Kris Van Assche was born in May 1976. As the only son of a Flemish family, he spent his childhood in his homeland and joined the famous Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. 18 years old.
  • At 20, he arrives in Paris. Young graduate, he hires for a 4-month internship at Yves Saint Laurent . He will work alongside Hedi Slimane on the Rive Gauche line before following the star designer, appointed in 2000 at Dior to ensure the artistic direction of the masculine lines.

  • Four years later, Kris Van Assche launches his men's label. He affirms his personal aesthetic, footprint of minimalism to strict codes. While his studio team understands at the time only 3 people, his first show is immediately a real success. Applauded by critics, the collection is torn and distributed in nearly 150 stores.

  • When Hedi Slimane, his first mentor, left the Dior house in 2007, Kris Van Assche was immediately invited to take over the reins of the men's collections. He develops a masculine identity with urban elegance, combining the heritage of the house in a singular casual way. A bold positioning, which will seduce for 11 years a large clientele in search of a mastered streetwear.

  • After having put his own brand in parenthesis in 2015, the Belgian designer finally left the creative direction of Dior Homme in March 2018, and then resumed the Berluti following the departure of Haider Ackermann . He will present his first collection for the Paris label in January 2019.
