If like fashion, perfumery knows the effects of fashion (pink, floral, patchouli ...) for 2 years, it is the oud that wins all the olfactory votes. And this, despite its prohibitive price which surpasses that of gold (20000 € per kilo), which is obviously on the label of our perfumes. If some perfumers have made the choice of synthetic molecules, most, by will of excellence, will directly seek this rare raw material in Asia (hence its price).
Why does the oud fascinate so much? Because of the signature of its wake: a woody-leather-animal. Generally mixed, impossible to remain impassive! For one thing is for sure, wearing a perfume made of oud wood essence is a deliberate choice.

Oud: the myth of the East
Arabic name of a wood coming from Asia, the oud is used by many traditional medicines. Buddhists burn it to help meditate. In the palaces of the maharadjas, this wood is consumed on the embers of a censer to perfume pieces and fabrics. Distilled, it delivers a golden essence and fragrant.
Only a handful of tree varieties produce oud, which is none other than an aromatic resin secreted by the tree to protect itself from the attacks of certain fungi. When hardened, it becomes hard wood.
