British number two Kyle Edmund has progressed through to the third round of the Winston-Salem Open after beating Daniil Medvedev.

The 22-year-old looked in trouble after losing the first set 2-6 against his Russian opponent, but fought back to take the next two - 6-2 7-6 (8-6) - in North

Carolina.

Edmund will now play either Marton Fucsovics or Joao Sousa in the last 16, as he continues his build-up to the US Open, that starts at Flushing Meadows on Monday.

Meanwhile, it was not a good day for fellow Brit Aljaz Bedene, ranked 48th in the world, as he crashed out when losing 6-4 7-5 to Italy's Andreas Seppi.

Elsewhere, Britain's Brydan Klein will not be heading to Flushing Meadows after losing in the first round of US Open qualifying.

The 27-year-old, ranked 169th in the world, was beaten 6-3 3-6 7-6 by France's Vincent Millot, but there was better news for fellow Briton Cameron Norrie, who advanced to the second qualifying round, beating Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik 6-2 6-2.
